| GOOD NEWS FOR HOMEOWNERS AS ACTIVITY RAMPS UP IN 2010 |
| |
It’s a great time to sell your home, according to Sequence which recorded a higher proportion of house hunters registering at its branches in January 2010 when compared to the same period last year. The Sequence national network of estate agents is currently seeing demand from buyers outweigh the number of properties on the market, so those thinking about moving in 2010 should get their home on the market as soon as possible to take advantage of heightened competition for properties.
“Figures from across the Sequence network show there was a six per cent increase in registrations at our branches in January this year when compared to January 2009,” explains Simon Arnes, Divisional Managing Director for Sequence. “When you compare this with a five and a half per cent decrease in the average number of homes our branches have on their books, you can see that it’s a sellers market and I would urge those looking to sell to get their property on the market before the usual spring rush.
“We’ve already seen a lot of activity in 2010 and I anticipate that this trend will continue,” Simon continues. “Compared to this time last year we are seeing much more confidence from buyers, so sellers should also be confident that they can achieve a sale at the right price for their home.”
Across the board, Sequence’s nationwide network of offices has also seen an eight per cent increase in sales in January 2010 and steadily increasing house prices.
