| HOUSING MARKET CONFIDENCE ON THE UP |
| |
The housing market is on the move, according to national agency network Sequence. The award-winning national network, is pleased to announce that the final week of April was its best sales week for over two years proving the desire to move home or buy for the first time in 2010 is now strong.
“It’s encouraging to see buyers and sellers re-entering the market, many of whom have been putting off their move over the last couple of years while the market was more uncertain,” says David Plumtree, Chief Executive, Sequence. “What these figures show is that people will not be swayed by the type of negative commentary we get in the media or from economists, they want to buy a new home and there are currently some fantastic properties on the market to choose from.”
As well as sales, Sequence has seen increasing numbers of buyers registering an interest with its branches, more homeowners requesting market appraisals on their properties and more homes coming on to the market. “Comparing April 2009 to April 2010, we have seen a 22 per cent increase in appraisals and a 26 per cent increase in instructions, figures which clearly show a growing confidence in the housing market this year," David continues.
Sequence is anticipating continued growth in the housing market 2010, especially from first-time buyers who continue to benefit from the recent decision to extend the stamp duty threshold up to £250,000. As more properties come on to the market there will be greater choice for buyers over the busy summer period.
