Notice of Data Breach: July 2020

What happened?

A camera used by the William H Brown Barnsley branch was locked in a car which was stolen. We have identified some of the data, however there is a possibility of a limited number of photographs of identity documentation taken for the purposes of Anti-Money Laundering being amongst a number of property photographs.

What does this mean for me?

We have processes in place to delete the information as soon as a member of staff returns to the branch. On this occasion we cannot be absolutely certain this has happened in every situation. We think the likelihood of harm is low, however we cannot absolutely confirm this.

What kind of data was affected?

Photographs of identity documentation taken for the purposes of Anti-Money Laundering being amongst several thousand property photographs.

What are we doing?

The incident has been reported to the Police and to the Information Commissioners Office. We are working with both parties.

What you can do.

We are advising customers to continue to be alert as they would normally be, especially should they receive any unsolicited communications. We also advise customers to be cautious of any communications purporting to come from William H Brown or Sequence. You can also find general advice at www.actionfraud.police.uk.
